چکیده

Lactococcus lactis is one of the most extensively used lactic acid bacteria for the manufacture of dairy products. Exploring the biodiversity of L. lactis is extremely promising both to acquire new knowledge and for food and health-driven applications. L. lactis is divided into four subspecies: lactis, cremoris, hordniae and tructae, but only subsp. lactis and subsp. cremoris are of industrial interest. Due to its various biotopes, Lactococcus subsp. lactis is considered the most diverse. The diversity of L. lactis subsp. lactis has been assessed at genetic, genomic and phenotypic levels. Multi-Locus Sequence Type (MLST) analysis of strains from different origins revealed that the subsp. lactis can be classified in two groups: "domesticated" strains with low genetic diversity, and "environmental" strains that are the main contributors of the genetic diversity of the subsp. lactis. As expected, the phenotype investigation of L. lactis strains reported here revealed highly diverse carbohydrate metabolism, especially in plant- and gut-derived carbohydrates, diacetyl production and stress survival. The integration of genotypic and phenotypic studies could improve the relevance of screening culture collections for the selection of strains dedicated to specific functions and applications.

Lactococcus lactis plant isolates identifies adaptation mechanisms to the plant niche Running title: Genotype-phenotype matching of L. lactis plant isolates ABSTRACT Lactococcus lactis is a primary constituent of many starter cultures used for the manufacturing of fermented dairy products, but the species also occurs in various non-dairy niches such as (fermented) plant material. Three genome s...

Unleashing natural competence in Lactococcus lactis by induction of the competence regulator ComX.

In biotechnological work horses like Streptococcus thermophilus and Bacillus subtilis natural competence can be induced, which facilitates genetic manipulation of these microbes. However, in strains of the important dairy starter Lactococcus lactis natural competence has not been established to date. However, in silico analysis of complete genome sequences of 43 L. lactis strains revealed compl...

Induction of Immunogenic Response in BALB/c Mice by Live and Killed Form of Recombinant Lactococcus lactis Displaying EG95 of Echinococcus granulosus Immunogenic Response in BALB/c Mice

Background: CE is a zoonotic parasitic infection caused by Echinococcus granulosus worldwide and is associated with economic losses among livestock animals. EG95 is an immunogenic antigen from the E. granulosus. Lactococcus lactis has been prested as a safe vehicle for antigen delivery. The goal of this study was to design a novel L. lactis strain displaying EG95 as a vaccine delivery system. M...

Construction of vaccine from Lactococcus lactis bacteria using Aeromonas hydrophila virulent Aerolysin gene

In this study the forward and reverse primers were designated to amplify the segments (~250 bps and ~650 bps) of the gene coding domains 1 and 4 of aerolysin of Aeromonas hydrophila. These two domains are involved in pathogenesis of the aerolysin gene. Sequences for two restriction enzymes, Pst I and Hind III, were included in the forward and reverse primers respectively. These restriction enz...
